How interesting, the way you’re using this for a short story collection. You’ve inspired me to start thinking about using video and YouTube in my writing life. Better late than never, right? Thanks, ladies.
We thought so as well Darla. A lady from our writers group, told us her first book, she did without a trailer. By her second, (a poetry collection) she tried to expand on her marketing strategy and told us that she released a trailer before the book launched and noticed the sales we’re higher. So, we figured it was worth a try. Also, work with your local artists in your area. We did, using a college student studying cinematography. Like us, he is a new artist (videographer) and was more than willing to work with us for a reasonable fee as well as the opportunity to get his work out there. It’s nice, artists supporting and promoting other artists, so we kept with this theme with all aspects of our book. (The cover, the music for the video, the website for the book.) Each one trying to make their name in their field and feeling strongly towards linking themselves with a project and someone with the same passion and drive as them. Our third book (New Salem Chronicles) due for release in March 2014, we’ve collaborated with my daughters former high school, band director who will be doing the score; and the drama club for the video. This works out for you as well, because the town seems to lend more support because your giving back and can sometimes even catch the attention of the local newspaper. Please let us know if you decide to go with this as we can’t wait to come by and see as well as give a shout out to our friend Darla. Thanks so much for stopping by Darla, we always love your visits!
Oh, I love this — getting the community involved. Fortunately, my son is talented in all these areas, and he has many artistic friends in our church and around town who would probably jump at the chance to help with a project like this. You’ve upped the excitement here, my dear. Now — onto completing my story or collection so I can have fun with it, like you are with yours. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
